FAQs

Where exactly is Chalet Seven?

Chalet Seven is perched high in the Swiss Alps in a forested area, just a ten minute walk from the town of Crans-Montana and only 500 m from the main lift station. If in winter you find walking in ski boots too difficult, we’ll be happy to drop you off and you can ski back home to Chalet Seven, which is on the returning ski run.

Crans is 50 miles or 80 kilometres east of Geneva as the crow flies. Due west from Crans is Lyon; Zurich is to the north east, and Milan is to the south east.

How do I get there?

The nearest international airport is in Geneva, which is approximately a two hour drive from Chalet Seven. Geneva International is served by many of the major international carriers, with flights from most European destinations. Private planes are able to land at Sion Airport, which is only 30 minutes from Chalet Seven by car. Please note that Sion Airport closes as soon as darkness falls. We can also arrange helicopter transfers from both Geneva and Sion Airports. You can take the train directly from Geneva Airport to Sierre, a town about a 30 minute drive from Chalet Seven. The train takes slightly less than two hours and is a very pleasant way to see some spectacular Alpine scenery. On request, we can arrange transfers or taxis at an extra charge to get you to the chalet.

How can Chalet Seven be booked?

Chalet Seven can accommodate up to 24 adults in 12 bedrooms and children in a specially designed bunk- room. Rates during the winter season are quoted for seven nights’ exclusive hire of Chalet Seven for 24 guests, and are priced in Swiss Francs, British pounds and Euros. During the winter season, you can reserve individual apartments at Chalet Seven if the chalet has not been booked for exclusive use six weeks prior to your arrival date.

Rates during the summer season are quoted per room, based on two adults sharing for three, four and seven night stays and priced in British pounds and Euros. In the summer season, it is possible to hire Chalet Seven exclusively. The rate is calculated by multiplying the length of the stay rate by 12 (the number of rooms at Chalet Seven). Sunday arrival and departure dates are valid for seven night stays only. For three and four night stays, arrival and departure dates will vary according to availability. A £50 supplement per room per night will apply when booking either of the two master suites.

Contact our reservations team for full information on rates and availability.

Can I bring my children?

Absolutely! Chalet Seven is a great place for a family holiday in both summer and winter, as we have plenty of things for children to do. We have a set welcome pack and range of great activities available on request, including children’s DVDs, toys, games consoles, books, games, and treasure hunts in the evenings – if they’re not too tired after a long day out! Depending on the season, we can arrange ski instructors specifically with the children’s needs in mind, skating parties on the ice-rink, tennis, biking, walking, swimming and much more! Chalet Seven also has a children’s bunkroom.

What is the charge for children?

When booking Chalet Seven exclusively, rates for children in the bunkroom only apply when the total number of guests at Chalet Seven exceeds 24. There is no charge for children from 0-6 years of age. Children aged 7-12 are charged at £250 per week and children between 12-18 years of age are charged £500 per week, assuming they sleep in the children’s bunkroom – which sleeps a maximum of six.

What food can I expect?

The food served at Chalet Seven is one of the highlights of your stay. We serve a mix of both Swiss and international cuisine. Dining can be as formal as or informal as you wish, from full four-course, gourmet meals to healthy meals with children. Meals can be both themed and traditional – ask us for some ideas or give us yours! In winter, our rates include breakfast and afternoon tea, as well as dinner on all but one night during the week, when you’ll be able to sample the best of Crans’ culinary delights.

Our rates in summer include breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, as well as dinner on all but one night during the week, when you’ll be able to experience one of Crans’ many quality restaurants. We can certainly recommend somewhere and book you a table. Lunches will vary depending on the day’s activities. For some excursions, we organise lunch, unless you’re the more independent sort and choose to go exploring. If you’re back at Chalet Seven by lunchtime, we’ll organise a buffet lunch inside or on the terrace.
